CODE OF CONDUCT

 

GENERAL

 

  • Its I necessary to have a Code of Conduct in this School Community in order to attain the educational goals of the school.
  • Order, discipline and respect of each individual form the basis for a successful school community.
  • Christian principals are the foundation of the Code of conduct.

 

OBJECTIVES

 

  • To give each child the opportunity to realize their full potential in all Christian Educational areas that the school might offer.
  • To prepare each child for adult life, in which h/she can play a meaningful role as an adult.
  • To offer each child security and safety, within the school community, as a unique individual with his/her own characteristics and needs.
  • To teach pupils the principle of:  “to care for each other and to have other’s interests at heart:  in a spirit of co-operation and support”.
  • To provide a safe environment for the pupils, and to prevent physical injuries as far as possible.
  • To form a partnership between school and parents and to offer the best to the children through effective communication.

 

AUTHORITY OF STAFF

 

Each staff member has the authority to deal with a pupil who is disruptive, a disturbance, or who wastes time, in one of the following manners, as he/she judges best:

 

  • Record infringement in tutor file.
  • Wan pupil
  • Remove pupil from his/her class until infringement has been rectified or until the pupil undertakes to amend his attitude.  This temporary removal from class must be reorded in tutor file.
  • Report to the tutor involved or the principal.

 

SCHOOL RULES AND ORDER RULES

 

Each pupil binds him/herself to:

 

  • EDUCATIONAL:

 

Regular school attendance and diligent school work.

Compulsory attendance of the total curriculum program.

 

  • GIRLS

 

Summer:

Juniors:  Navy shorts and Carpe Diem Golf Shirt.  Navy socks and black school shoes.

Seniors:  Carpe Diem Shorts and Golf shirt and navy socks & black school shoes.

Winter:

School Tracksuit with navy socks & black school shoes.  Navy dri-mac allowed.

Jewelry:  One pair of small studs or sleepers (one in each ear lobe). No rings, ankle chains, bracelets or necklaces may be worn.  Only Medic-Alert chains are allowed.

Hair:  Long hair must be tied up neatly with a white or navy ribbon or clips (nothing outrageous).  All bob styles must be tied up and clipped away from the face.  As soon as the hair touches the collar it must be tied up.  Fringes should be short and out of the eyes.  Extensions must be clean.

 

  • BOYS            

         

Summer:

  • SCHOOL GROUNDS

 

The school grounds may not be left during school hours, unless a parent has signed him/her out.

No pupils may be in the classrooms during break.   Stone throwing, water squirting and rough games are forbidden.  Smoking, use of alcohol and habit forming substances are strictly forbidden.

No pupils will be allowed to telephone their parents during school hours.

 

4.4  GENERAL

 

          All parents remain bund to the ethos of the school even outside normal school hours.

 

5.  DISCIPLINARY SYSTEM:

 

        5.1  This system is the result of work sessions and discussions amongst staff and principal.

        5.2  Each situation will be dealt with on merit.

5.3  Each classroom has a policy, which must be upheld.

5.4  Helping pupils is a priority.

5.5  Punishment will occur when there is no doubt about guilt.

5.6  Temporary exclusion occurs immediately and includes all facets of school activities.

5.7  Please note that distinction is made between serious offences, academic offences and misconduct outside the

       class.
